Mark A Malangoni

Mark Malangoni is Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Professor Malangoni is past-president of the Surgical Infection Society, the Ohio chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the Cleveland Surgical Society. He is currently Chair of the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Advisory Council for General Surgery of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, Professor Malangoni is an active member of numerous professional organisations and societies.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from Indiana University and his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Professor Malangoni then completed a residency in general surgeryat Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1980.

Professor Malangoni has authored or co-authored more than 125 peer-reviewed articles and 25 book chapters. His research interests include surgical infections and the pathophysiology and consequences of haemorrhagic shock.
