David Paterson
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, USA

David Paterson is Director of the Antibiotic Management Program, and Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. Prior to this, he spent two years as Director of Infectious Diseases at the Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione in Palermo, Italy. Born in Australia, David Paterson did his undergraduate and postgraduate training in Brisbane.

Dr Paterson has a special interest in the epidemiology, detection, characterisation and treatment of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase- producing bacteria. He has also had over 60 peer-reviewed articles published and has written chapters for a wide range of books in the field of infectious diseases.
