Jose M Tellado
Department of Surgery, Hospital Gregorio Marañon, Madrid, Spain

Jose M. Tellado completed his medical degree in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and his surgical training in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital Gregorio Marañon, Madrid, Spain. From 1986 to 1990, he was Clinical and Research Fellow at the Department of Surgery, Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Since 1990, Dr Tellado has held the position of staff surgeon in the Department of Surgery, Hospital Gregorio Marañon, and is a member of the liver transplant team. He directs the Surgical Infection Laboratory, which is dedicated to researching the defence mechanisms and clinical aspects of intra-abdominal infections and septic shock. He is also a member of the American College of Surgeons and has acted as secretary of the Surgical Infection Society, Europe, from 2000 to 2002.
